LSO Athletic (Rec +)
Our Athletic division is the hybrid between jumping all into the club world and a bit more competitive than the recreation leagues. There are additional fees, however, travel is within the city and teams get an opportunity to play other schools.
Depending on the grade levels and skill level, we offer 2 competitive playing experiences:
CPYVL: Teams playing in the Cincinnati Premier league (CPYVL) will practice 2 times a week and play games on weekends, with a tournament at the end of the season. There are 2 seasons of opportunity, in the spring they play from March until May and in the fall they play from August to October. Players need to have experience of 2 or more seasons and need to attend an evaluation (which happens much earlier than the season takes place. ie. Fall season evaluations are in May, Spring season evaluations are in Jan). There is also an additional fee associated with playing in this league.
Players in this league will learn more complex playing systems and playing time is not guaranteed. They will begin learning to play by positions based on skill level and team needs.
UDI: Teams playing in the UDI Circuit will have practice 2 times a week and the matches on the weekends. The matches are a set day and time each week. This is only available to 3-6 graders and during the fall season. The goal of this league is to get as many touches as possible. So each week there is a new "rule" for players to follow. These rules will be published at the beginning of the season. (ie. One team serves, then the coach enters a free ball to each side, rotates and the other team serves, free ball, free ball). Evaluations are run at the same time as the CPYVL.
Remember, all players are welcome to play in our programs from grades 1-12. Grades 3-9 are eligible for Athletic. Most teams are made up of all girl players, while from time to time we have enough interest to have all boys teams play.
For those that do not make these teams during the evaluation process, they will be placed in our rec leagues. We offer these programs to support those players wanting to make that jump but not ready or interested in playing at the club level with as big of a commitment. Consider trying out, as this is a great opportunity for players to prepare for school competition.
